ROME- PART III: ROMAN COLISEUM

Anfiteatro Flavio! Así es como se le denominaba al Coliseo en sus orígenes y allí mismo tenía lugar todo tipo de peleas de gladiadores, caza de animales salvajes, obras de teatro y otros espectáculos públicos de lo más variopintos, pero muy acordes con la época.

Aunque a primera vista podría parecer que el colosal edificio tiene forma redonda o circular, lo cierto es que su planta es de forma oval y como dato significativo es que cerca de la Arena se situaban los Emperadores y el Senado, y a medida que se ascendía en las gradas se iban situando las distintas clases sociales de mayor a menor categoría.

El Coliseo es un verdadero icono de la ciudad de Roma y una atracción turística muy interesante!

ROME - PART II: PALATINE AND ROMAN FORUM

 En pleno corazón de la ciudad se encuentra uno de los yacimientos arqueológicos más importantes, las ruinas del Foro Romano, lugar donde se desarrollaba la vida diaria en la antigua Roma. El Templo de Vesta y el Templo de los castores (Cástor y Pólux), el Arco de Séptimo Severo y el Arco de Tito, la Columna de Focas, la Basilica Julia o la Curia (Senado), son algunos de los monumentos, cuyas ruinas que abarcan más de 900 años, forman tan valioso e interesante conjunto urbano. Para finalizar este reportaje y después de un largo y caluroso día, nada mejor que saborear un delicioso y refrescante helado italiano... Mmmm!!! Disfruten las imágenes!!!

Città Eterna

Después de un largo paréntesis sin poder actualizar el blog por falta de tiempo, continuamos, con la intención y promesa por mi parte de realizar publicaciones más periódicas. 

Así que, retomamos el tema donde había quedado y seguimos recorriendo las hermosas regiones de Italia. Empezamos por Roma, la "Ciudad Eterna", situada en las riberas del río Tíber, cuna de una de las civilizaciones antiguas más importantes, que ejerció una influencia decisiva en muchos ámbitos como el derecho, la cultura, el arte, la religión... Fundada por Rómulo y Remo y capital del Imperio Romano, dejamos la larga y compleja historia de esta gran metrópolis para consultar en los libros y pasamos a disfrutar de una pequeña selección de imágenes capturadas con mucho Amor, esa palabra que resulta de leer (en español) Roma de derecha a izquierda, según la interpretación del escritor bizantino Giovanni Lido. Y así cerramos este post, con la última de las imágenes dedicada al amor!!!
