En la ruta del Camino de Santiago, nos encontramos con el monasterio de San Miguel de Escalada, ubicado cerca del pueblo del mismo nombre, en el municipio de Gradefes, provincia de León. Hoy día se conserva el templo, consagrado en el año 913 por el Abad Alfonso, que había llegado a León junto a otros monjes desde Córdoba.
Para algunos autores está considerada una obra mozárabe y estaría incluida dentro del denominado arte de repoblación. El templo mozárabe fue construido reaprovechando materiales de épocas anteriores, visigótica y romana. Es monumento nacional desde 1886!!! REALMENTE IMPRESIONANTE!!!
