La góndola es el medio de transporte tradicional más representativo de Venecia, aunque a día de hoy no se utiliza específicamente como tal, sino que, más bien sirven para la actividad turística, bodas, funerales u otras celebraciones especiales. Es un tipo de embarcación pequeña, un bote de remo de color negro, con un adorno de hierro situado en la proa, que sirve como decoración a la vez que hace de contrapeso ya que el gondolero rema de pie en la popa. El gondoliere es una profesión que pasa de generación en generación con mucho orgullo. Visten un uniforme consistente en una camisa de rayas, sombrero de paja y pantalón negro y existen unas tarifas oficiales iguales para toda la ciudad.
